Course in Financial Engineering to prepare students for careers on Wall Street

Wall Street is hiring more people with training in Financial Engineering.  There are 2 reasons why you should consider taking an introductory course in Financial Engineering: (1) if you are getting a business degree you should have at least a basic understanding of this field and (2) if you like math, you may want to become a financial engineer!

NJIT is developing a certificate program in Financial Engineering.  One of the required classes-- Fin 698 will be offered this Fall 2008 semester.  The purpose of the certificate program is to give students a basic knowledge FE.  If you are interested  in Financial Engineering you may want to enroll in Financial Engineering I- Fin 698, Wednesday nights 6 - 9 p.m.  The course will be taught using McDonald's Derivatives Markets which should be completed in one semester.  If interested contact Professor Larry Eisenberg larry.eisenberg@njit.edu for approval to enroll.

New graduate course in Fall 2008 will partner students with corporations

A new course will be offered this fall--MGMT 681 Project-Based Enterprise Development. During the semester, students will work on projects proposed by real companies, such as IBM, Johnson & Johnson, and Accelerant Sales Group. The project will focus on major renewal projects within the company, such as new product or service introduction, entry into new markets, internationalization, introduction of new management methods, incentive systems or business models, just to mention a few examples. Students will do research on the topic proposed and produce a report and a presentation to guide the future actions of the company. This will be a mutually beneficial project both for the sponsoring company and NJIT students. The NJIT students would get invaluable experience in real world projects and could develop contacts to company people. The companies would get a chance to pick the brains of NJIT students who can provide fresh insights to dilemmas faced by the company. The classes are held on Mondays, 6-9 pm. If you are interested, please enroll. In case of any further questions, please feel free to contact Professor Parhankangas (Annaleena.Parhankangas@njit.edu).
