Each student must select an area of specialization after being admitted into the MSM program.  The specialization consists of 5 classes for a total of 15 credits.

What Is The Finance Specialization About?

The finance specialization of the MSM includes course options in Corporate Finance, Derivatives, Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment Analysis and International Finance.

People who are interested in financial management.

Where Can It Take Me?

Career paths begin with positions in managing financial functions or systems and move to leading groups of finance professionals.  This concentration is also ideal for preparing graduates for positions in investment banking and brokerage.

Management Information Systems  

What is Management  Information Systems About?

The MIS specialization is focused on designing, building, implementing, maintaining and evaluating information systems that  underpin core business processes. They include the full suite of enterprise resource planning functions such as customer relationship management systems, executive information systems, financial management systems, supply chain management systems, and logistics systems.

Who Is it For?

People who are interested in the processes through which organizations convert data into information and knowledge to gain competitive advantage. Many students who select the MIS specialization have undergraduate degrees in computer science and are seeking a career focused more on management issues such as knowledge management and data mining.  

Where Can It Take Me?

Career tracks begin with managing focused projects and then move to working on larger mission critical systems. MIS professionals would then move into managerial roles and run MIS departments and functions. Sustained career progress tracks to the CIO position.

Management of Technology  

What is Management of Technology About?

The MOT specialization is focused on managing emerging and existing technologies and on managing technological change.  Students are encouraged to develop an in-depth knowledge of one technical area of interest.  

Who Is it For?

People who are interested in learning about the commercial and strategic value of existing and emerging technologies.  Managing technology requires an understanding of technology and business and this specialization is designed to provide that understanding.

Where Can It Take Me?

Generally, people who complete this specialization are interested in moving out of laboratories and engineering groups and into managerial jobs.  Career paths will vary based on experience and interests.
